Fundamental Strategies for Blackjack Players
Going through a typical Blackjack strategy guide, be it in a book or online, will give the player the impression that it can be quite a complex game to master. While that is true, you need to cover the basic tactics first.
No one becomes a great Blackjack player overnight; it requires practice, training and learning how to put in place the proper strategies. When it comes to tactics though, you don't start with the most intricate; you commence with the most fundamental ones.
The impatient ones will not like this, but the fact is that by knowing the basic Blackjack strategies, you will not only make it easier (for yourself) to learn the more advanced concepts, but quite often, playing using the simplest of techniques can get you several wins already.
For example, most beginning Blackjack players are content to look at their hands and decide if they want to get another card (hit) or just stand pat. What they fail to consider is the dealer's up card. It's crucial to remember that you are competing against the dealer to get to, or as near 21 as possible.
Even if you are holding a low or medium hand, you need to look at what the dealer has to determine if it is better for you to just stand, since based on your analysis the dealer stands a good chance to bust or go over.
There are other basic Blackjack strategies that a majority of players ignore. These include the splitting of cards. If you are dealt a pair of eights or better, you should opt to split, as the odds are you will win again and make more money. If there is a Surrender option, you should also avail of it particularly if your hands are weak. Exercising this option will allow you to save some of the bankroll and stay in the game much longer.
Other rules like double down or re splitting can be used depending on the rules of the casino. Yet most players don't even use them even if they are allowed, for the simple fact that they don't read the stipulations. This is something you can take advantage of.
We haven't even touched on other Blackjack strategies like card counting, but the fact is most players are totally ignorant of these basic techniques, and that by using them in your game, you can make a lot of money very quickly.
