What Kind of Blackjack Player are You?
Most gamblers are aware of the player traits in Poker, like the fish, rock, maniac, etc and use it to their advantage. What most don't realize is that there are also personality traits in Blackjack, and that the more you know about them, the better off your bankroll will be.
Although this may sound like psychological pep talk and nothing more, it isn't and does have an actual effect in whether you win or lose.
If you're a newbie, you need to know two things: one, that Blackjack can be beaten, and number two, the casino rakes in the profit because so many people play it incorrectly. Those who play "wrong" are among the most prevalent types of players in this game.
These are the novices or "tourists", those who play the game on occasion. Their trademark is that they come to the table with substantial amounts and lose it all in a matter of minutes.
Another type of Blackjack player is the one who goes in believing that because of the house edge, the casino will always prevail, and thus there is no point in devising a system. These people play with their only objective being not to lose too much money.
Then there are the thrill seekers. These players are well aware of the importance of Blackjack strategy but prefer to "roll the dice" and rely on luck. For these people, it's the excitement that counts, not the amount they win or lose. They may be regarded as the opposite of those who play not to lose too much money.
Finally there are those who play Blackjack to win money. If you want to be one of those, there are ways you do this, and in many respects it is easier to be a profitable player here than in Poker, because the basic strategy has been computed thoroughly.
All you need to do is memorize the correct move as indicated in the charts for single and multiple deck games, and you would be in good shape. You can also use card counting and shuffle tracking to increase your edge even more. Others would go further and learn about the odds and probabilities. Although this might seem like a lot of work, most people find it easy to learn the nuances of the game once they get started on the basic strategies.
If you don't mind losing money and just want to have a blast, that's okay; but if you want to have fun and win money on a consistent basis, learning about the different traits of players, and how to properly play Blackjack will be essential.
